Rangko Cave (Gua Rangko) - The Secret Saltwater Lagoon of Labuan Bajo
Looking for a hidden gem in Labuan Bajo beyond Komodo Island? Welcome to Rangko Cave.
Located in Rangko Village, just an hour from Labuan Bajo, this magical cave hides a natural saltwater pool with crystal-clear, turquoise-blue water. Surrounded by stunning stalactites and stalagmites, the pool is connected to the ocean through small crevices, creating a unique brackish lagoon perfect for swimming.
The real magic happens between 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. When sunlight pierces through the cave's opening, it reflects on the water and illuminates the entire cave with a spectacular blue glow - a photographer's dream.
In 2022, over 17,361 travelers visited this pristine cave, and it's now one of the most sought-after off-the-beaten-path destinations in East Nusa Tenggara.
How to Get to Rangko Cave:
Your adventure starts from Labuan Bajo with a 1-hour drive to Rangko Village, followed by a 20-minute scenic boat ride on a traditional wooden boat to Gusung Island. A short 500-meter trek through a rocky trail will lead you to the cave entrance.
Insider Tips:
Facilities are still very natural and minimal. Bring your swimsuit, towel, drinking water, snacks, and waterproof shoes. This is a must-visit for your Labuan Bajo Tour!
