Overview:
Mount Inerie, which is one of the natural pyramids and the highest mountain on the island of Flores, has an altitude of 2,245 meters above sea level (7,365 feet). Majestic Mount Inerie is an almost perfectly conical volcano 7km from Bajawa. It last erupted in 1971 and has remained dormant since. Inerie is a cone-shaped basalt stratovolcano on Flores Island rising to 2,245 meters. The volcano's western side taken from the road Bajawa to Aimere shows the perfectly conical dome which dominates the hilly and verdant Ngada region.
What Makes It Special:
1. Sunrise Trek - The Main Experience
Climbing Mount Inerie is awesome. The climb is not too hard and the views from the summit are amazing.
Start Point: Trek starts at elevation of approximately 900 meters from Watumeze village, around 15 kilometers from Bajawa
Duration: Reaching summit takes about 3 hours, and about 3 hours for return trip, even for those in decent physical condition. Most start at 2-3 AM for sunrise.
Trail: The trail is not really obvious and sliding rocks during last quarter make it tricky. Thick carpet of ash on path and steep incline mean it is challenging.
Two Routes: General Line and Wirasakti Line - those who want to experience climbing from 0 masl can take Wirasakti route and camping.
2. Spectacular Summit View
When you get to edge of crater - a perfectly formed 250m-deep hole - follow crest to summit (2,245m), from where there is superb view over Bajawa, Bena, Mt Ebulobo (2,124m) and, on a clear day, island of Sumba 100km to the south.

Base: Bajawa town (Ngada Regency)
Guide: Highly recommended - trail not obvious. Local guides from Bajawa
What to Bring: Headlamp (for night hike), 2L water, warm jacket (summit freezing), hiking shoes with grip, gloves, snacks
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard - fairly extreme and steep terrain, highly recommended for climbers who want challenge
Fee: Around IDR 20,000 entrance (2023) + guide fee IDR 500k-800k per group
