Escape to Wae Rebo, a mystical and remote traditional village hidden 1,200 meters above sea level in the mountains of Flores. Often called the "Village Above the Clouds," this is not just a destination, but a journey back in time.

This UNESCO Cultural Heritage Award-winning village (2012) is home to only 7 iconic cone-shaped houses called Mbaru Niang. Made entirely from natural materials like worok wood and lontar thatch, these houses have sheltered 44 families for over 1,200 years (20 generations).

The Legend:
The village was founded by Empo Maro, who sailed all the way from Minangkabau, Sumatra to Labuan Bajo. Guided by a dream from a spiritual elder, he found this hidden paradise and made it his home.

Experience Authentic Manggarai Life:
Life here is simple and authentic. The community lives from farming coffee, cloves, and tubers. The women weave traditional ikat while maintaining ancient traditions passed down from ancestors. To get clean water, they use sacred mountain springs called "Sosor" - separated into male and female springs.

A 3-4 hour trek through dense jungle and mountains is required to reach Wae Rebo, but the reward is unforgettable: a night in a traditional house, warm Flores coffee, and a sunrise above the clouds.
