Beyond Komodo dragons and beaches, Flores has a cultural wonder you can only see from above: the Spiderweb Rice Fields.
Located in Cancar Village, about 17km west of Ruteng and on the way from Labuan Bajo to Wae Rebo, this is one of the most Instagrammable landscapes in Manggarai Regency.
What Makes It Unique?
This spider web rice field is a customary tradition of the Manggarai society in terms of the distribution of paddy fields called Lingko.
From a small hilltop viewpoint, you will see huge, perfect circular fields divided like a spider web. This unique layout represents togetherness and camaraderie amongst the village families, where land is divided from a central point outward.
Cancar Village offers the chance to see Lingko rice fields, a unique spider-web shaped agricultural pattern used in traditional Manggarai land division. A small village famous for their round, spider-web rice field structure, these pieces of land are unique eye-catchers in Manggarai.

The best view over these fields is offered at Cara Village situated on a small hill 17km west of Ruteng in Cancar. It is usually combined with a Flores Overland Tour:

Most tours stop here on the way back from Wae Rebo to Labuan Bajo. The most amazing view over a number of these fields is truly unforgettable.
