1. Authentic Mbaru Niang
Located 4km from Ruteng center, this small village consists of two thatched roof drum houses (Mbaru Niang) with a large yard and oval shaped stones called Compang. In the local language, Ruteng means fig tree and the village's name comes from the numerous fig trees nearby. A Beringin tree (Ficus Benjamina), locally known as Ruteng, once grew in the center of the Compang.

These are the preserved mbaru gendang houses - drum-shaped dwellings emblematic of Manggarai architecture - and a central compang stone platform used for rituals, surrounded by megalithic structures that underscore the region's ancient communal traditions.
