Danau Poco Likang - The Seasonal Lake Above The Clouds

Unlike other lakes in Flores, Danau Poco Likang is a unique natural phenomenon.

Not a Permanent Lake, But a Seasonal Catchment Lake. Danau Poco Likang is not a permanent lake. It is a seasonal lake formed during the rainy season - a natural depression on top of Poco Likang peak that collects rainwater, acting as a catchment basin. During the dry season, the lake dries up completely. When full, the depth is only up to an adult's knee.

Extreme 10°C with Frozen Morning Dew
Located at the summit of Poco Likang (2,109m), temperatures on top can drop to 10 degrees Celsius. In the early morning, the dew freezes on the grass and leaves - a rare frost phenomenon in tropical Indonesia! An experience like in the European mountains but in the heart of Flores.

Very Close to Ruteng Town
Poco Likang is very close to Ruteng town. From Ruteng city, it can be accessed by motorbike or car with a travel time of approximately 40 minutes to the reporting post (Pos Lapor). Light trekking from the post to the summit.

Currently, this place is mostly visited by local people for camping and enjoying sunrise above the clouds, and is not yet popular for foreign tourists - so it remains very authentic and uncrowded!
