Pink Beach, or Pantai Merah as it is aptly named, is one of seven pink beaches on the planet, and is just one of the many amazing features of Komodo Island that make it truly a Natural Wonder of Nature.

Why is the Sand Pink?
What sets Pink Beach apart is its unique pink-hued sand, caused by the erosion of red coral fragments. This exceptional beach gets its striking color from microscopic animals called Foraminifera, which produces a red pigment on the coral reefs. When the tiny fragments of red coral combine with the white sands, this produces the soft pink color you see. For this reason, it is called Red Beach in the local tongue.

What to Do at Pink Beach:

1. World-Class Snorkeling
Pink Beach has crystal-clear turquoise waters and thriving coral reefs teeming with marine life. Well known for its unique color of the sand, world class snorkeling site and breathtaking view of Komodo National Park. Perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

How to Get There:
Accessible by boat from Labuan Bajo, a visit to Pink Beach is often included in Komodo Island tours. It's a boat ride of approximately 3-4 hours from Labuan Bajo and 15 minutes from Komodo Island. Inside Komodo National Park (park fees apply).

There are actually two pink beaches - the main one on Komodo Island and a lighter pink beach on Padar Island.
